It has been an adventure in puppy care today. Dougal is the dominant type I think, so training will be rough.
Now he's all tuckered out. He isn't used to his crate yet. So tonight will be spent in the bathroom gated off from all carpet. We will set alarms to take him out, sure, but this way, accidents are easier to clean.

Put down newspaper and an article of your used clothing. That will make him feel safe, stop him barking and leaving messy presents for you to clean up.
